In March, the first two movements of the Violin Sonata in D minor, Op. 1, are performed at the Wiesbaden Conservatoire, but are met with little approval. The attempt to get the sonata published by B. Schott’s Söhne fails. Further chamber music works under a strong Brahmsian influence are created. Reger completes his piano studies with a performance of Brahms’s Handel Variations, Op. 24, on 27 June. In the annual report of the conservatorire for the school year 1891/92 (beginning in September) he is listed as a student in theory and as a teacher for piano and theory.
